Can’t get enough.
Night Outs is probably one of my favorites of 2008.

I owe my interest of the band Darker My Love to Miss Malia (friend and AMAZING photographer.)
Saw this band back in September when they opened for The Dandy Warhols.

Awesome music you can listen to here. (check: Northern Soul & Talking Words)
An awesome blog you can read here.
Read the blog entry “you can’t always get what you want,” about their stay at the Extended Stay America Hotel. Freaking classssy! I laughed.
If this little passage doesn’t make you want to read it, I don’t know what will…
Then you notice too late that there’s no toilet paper, and when you move to call the front desk, you notice the phone doesn’t work. Not that you would wanna put your face anywhere near that thing. You look under the bed to make sure it’s plugged in, which it is, but you stop looking as soon as you notice one solitary Dorito resting on top of a bar of half-used soap. You’re tempted to just wipe your ass on the wall like everyone else seems to have done…
Besides some cool stories and some videos, they post cool (really ridiculously cool) photos, some taken by them…

and some taken by Malia James.

It’s all good. You should probably catch them live sometime.

All from The Sartorialist

So I pretty much love everything about this last outfit except the scarf. That is one thing I could do without.

I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday where ever you are!
I miss the Wonder Years.
The rest of my day shall be spent watching multiple viewings of A Christmas Story. I am on my fourth or fifth right now.

One of my favorite things is to write and receive letters/postcards. Kelsey and I spent this summer sending postcards to each other and we only live a state away.

(still trying to find out who took this)
These past couple of weeks I’ve received some of the most thoughtful things. Some of the people I know very well, others not so well and a couple I haven’t met at all. All of you are extremely thoughtful and thanks so much.

Hayley G, made these cool postcards with a photo I took that’s Maust/Wignall inspired and sent me a handful. Here is what it looks like.

For a more detailed description about this, click here.
I am still trucking along on these holiday cards. Sorry to those that will receive them after the holidays. I didn’t realize how long it would take me to make each card, but fear not, those who have not received one will by the end of the week!
Also, I have the best “husband”, yesterday, he gave me a bottle of scotch as my hanukah day 2 gift. Word. I am not Jewish but he is, it’s how we roll…
Btw, I keep eating all this holiday candy we have around the house.

This morning I watched Masculin, Féminin. This is probably my fourth viewing of this film. I really adore it.

I am currently getting really into Tarkovsky thanks to my dear friend Dani.
I am a bit enamored by his collection of polaroids. They are breathtaking and have a certain romanticism about them. The first polaroid reminds me a bit of a painting.

I am patiently awaiting Ivan’s Childhood in the mail from Blockbuster Online. The screencaps and movie description seem promising.

description from the back of criterion dvd:

“The debut feature from the great Andrei Tarkovsky, Ivan’s Childhood is an evocative, poetic journey through the shadows and shards of one boy’s war-torn youth. Moving back and forth between the traumatic realities of WWII and the serene moments of family life before the conflict began, Tarkovsky’s film remains one of the most jarring and unforgettable depictions of the impact of violence on children in wartime.”
tarkovsky said of ivan’s childhood:
“generally people’s memories are coloured by poetry. the most beautiful memories are those of childhood. of course memory has to be worked upon before it can become the basis of an artistic reconstruction of the past; and here it is important not to lose the particular emotional atmosphere without which a memory evoked in every detail merely gives rise to a bitter feeling of disappointment. there’s an enormous difference, after all, between the way you remember the house in which you were born and which you haven’t seen for years, and the actual sight of the house after a prolonged absence. usually the poetry of the memory is destroyed by confrontation with its origin”
I was at Borders yesterday (I kind of live there…)
I picked up the Early Recordings of Skip James as well as some other CDs and books.
I am a happy girl at the moment.
I prefer the 1930s recording of this song, but this is still pretty ace.

I am still alive, although it’s only been 5 days since my last post, it feels longer.
I’ve been so tired and sick lately.
This week is been pretty unproductive. Which probably balances out my overly productive week last week.
New semi-interesting blogs sometime tomorrow, mostly telling you to look at someone’s photography.
This week went to St. Louis, which I am sure some of you know how much I just love that place. *sarcasm*
But, it was relatively good. Hung out with Chloe, saw Cold War Kids play and it was a pretty decent 24 hour trip. Although, as always, the drive is horrible. It’s 4 hours 4 1/2 depending on traffic, but for some reason it feels a lot longer.

And, yes, I did hear about polaroid filing for chapter 11 today. To answer all questions that I’ve heard today and will continue to hear
1. I still have quite a few packs at home
2. I don’t know what I’ll do when I can no longer get it
3. Yes, I did die a little.
Finally finished two rolls of film. I not quite sure what is on either. One is from my LC-A+, have been experimenting with Rollei film and the other is from my nikon N80, I think that one has some Little Joy photos. I am going to try and develop them this weekend…
Hope everyone is having a lovely Friday.
I shall be at the bux all night, dealing with the regular crazies.
